ECO HOTEL

CARDIFF BAY

The challenge
Design an eco-hotel that not only answers the operational and practical demands of a 4-star establishment but also sets a radical and unprecedented environmental benchmark for hotels of the future.

The answer
Planned around the sun’s path across the sky, the dramatic sweep of the main building wraps itself around a hanging garden of mature trees. In addition to providing a spectacular focal point, the garden is designed
to evolve over time, eventually creating its own energy-saving microclimate. As an added bonus, the ground-breaking layout of the hotel means every guest room has a magnificent view of the ever-changing waters of the Severn Estuary.
